Lucy Ferguson – Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

Lucy Ferguson, Ad Dip PC MNCS (Acc), Cert Hyp CS, MA (Hons)

Member of National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and an Accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.

Since qualifying in 2017, I have worked in private practice, including providing a counselling service to employees in a corporate environment with one to one counselling sessions. I have also worked as a wellbeing advisor and course instructor on corporate mental health training courses and workshops for a range of global companies. My training included a placement working with young people at YMCA in Ipswich.

I am a director of a local care farm, which provides wellbeing support for young people and adults with learning difficulties.

My approach is integrative, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, analytical, and CBT techniques. I have experience working with a wide range of wellbeing issues, including low mood, self-esteem, panic, anxiety and depression, stress, family and relationship issues,  bereavement and trauma.

I work with a wide range of age groups.

There are lots of different ways of approaching problems, issues and aspects of lifestyle, so I will always work with the client and their specific story, feelings and concerns. Whether it’s a specific event or issue or maybe there is something more permanent or ongoing that you feel you need some extra support with, there are so many ways that talking to a therapist can help. It can put things in perspective and release stress, anxiety and overwhelming feelings. It can help through difficult times, and equally it can be restorative and beneficial to reflect and review things in a safe therapeutic space.

My priority is to provide a relaxed and comfortable environment for my clients where they will be listened to with attention and respect, in complete confidentiality. I will work hard to guide, reassure and support each client as they work towards solutions or changes, or simply have a place to come and talk to a non judgemental listener.

In hypnotherapy, we work with the subconscious mind to help overcome a range of issues, habits, behaviours, negative emotions. It can be effective and powerful, working at a deep level but in a gentle and relaxing way. This will often be incorporated with counselling sessions.

Testimonial: ‘It’s hard to imagine how I could have navigated…without this support…Lucy has been a confidant, a critical friend, an understanding ear and world class sounding board! She has helped me to explore and come to terms with challenging aspects of my past, whilst giving me the vital tools and advice I needed to manage myself and protect those closest to me.’

I offer a 15-minute free phone consultation, sessions are 50 minutes, £65 per session.
