I am a confidential, experienced and highly qualified psychotherapist/counsellor with over 18 years experience. I am registered with UKCP and the UK Health Professions Council. As a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor I work with a number of different psychotherapeutic approaches and tailor therapy to suit your individual needs. My approach is open, non-judgemental and encouraging – it is important that you feel comfortable and able to explore your emotions freely. However, therapy might not always be comfortable. In order for significant change to happen there are times when you will need to move beyond your comfort zone, and therefore, when appropriate, my approach can be challenging. That said, therapy is led by you – you decide what you want to explore and what you want to achieve and we work together at your pace.
Depending on the issues you want to address, therapy can be short-term, mainly solution-focused where we look at developing strategies and providing the tools you need to help you handle your emotions effectively. Or it can be more in-depth, longer-term therapy where we explore the past to identify the root causes of your current emotional issues. This will help you to make sense of how you are feeling and why you may adopt certain behaviours. It will give you insight into how you interpret the world and other people and how this affects your thoughts and emotions. With this greater self-knowledge we continue our work together developing the solutions needed to achieve the outcome you are looking for.
